LINKS

As you know if you've ever searched "mackintosh" or "glasgow four," you get shops by the grillions ... and, if you search "margaret macdonald" or "macnair," you get essentially nothing.  So cherish these few useful links; they took days to track down.

The best sites discovered in the course of my online wanderings aren't the slick official and commercial ones, although some of those are all right.  I particularly encourage you to visit these two, both privately owned labors of love created by MacKintosh enthusiasts:

Amazingly comprehensive set of MacKintosh pages by Armin Crewe. Has outstanding photographs and excellent links page.
Elegant and informative 'Glasgow Four' pages by the Brand family of East Kilbride near Glasgow.

These two privately owned sites are very good, as well:

Heavily researched and lengthy French-language presentation, only partially translated into English.
Brief, excellent overview of Glasgow School of Art project by J. K. Gillon.

Now for the slick ones:

Absolutely don't miss this gorgeous presentation on House for an Art Lover.
Tasteful commercial site offers photos and details of famous Glasgow tea room projects.
Charles Rennie MacKintosh Society site offers links to major buildings and virtual tour of Queens Cross Church.
Drop in on Charles and Margaret.  Glasgow University's Hunterian Museum has recreated their 1906-1914 home.
Great Buildings site offers professional commentary on three major MacKintosh projects.
Glasgow School of Art presents virtual tour of MacKintosh masterwork.
Glasgow Museums site offers links to local buildings and exhibits, including lesser-known schools and churches.
National Trust site offers basic information on Hill House.
An "Artists" search at artmagick will show you a few pictures by each of The Four, with brief biographies.
